At a handover ceremony held earlier today (Friday, 12th January 2018), Prof. Juma Kasozi handed over office to Prof. Muhammad Ntale as new Dean, School of Physical Sciences (Dean-SPS) at the College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS) of Makerere University. The handover was overseen by the Deputy Principal, CoNAS – Prof. Fredrick Muyodi. The School of Physical Sciences has the following departments: Department of Chemistry, Department of Physics, Department of Mathematics and Department of Geology and Petroleum Studies.Prof. Kasozi has served as Dean-SPS for four years, prior to this position he had served as Chair, Department of Mathematics. In his remarks during the handover ceremony, Prof. Kasozi thanked the CoNAS management and staff for all the support received during his term of office. He advised Prof. Ntale to work with the departments to ease his work and ensure productivity. Prof. Kasozi further noted that quality assurance for teaching, learning and research at both undergraduate and graduate levels is a key role for the Dean’s Office. He also wished Prof. Ntale a good term of office and provided details of the office inventory.
Prof. Muyodi wished the new dean success in the new office and promised support from the CoNAS leadership. He advised that pragmatism is important for the office to ensure satisfaction for the students and productivity for the College.The new dean, Prof. Ntale expressed willingness to serve to the best of his abilities and work with all staff.
