Celebrating Thirty Years of Collaboration Between Makerere University and University Of Bergen

Makerere University (Mak)  and the University of Bergen (UiB)  cordially invite you to the celebrations to mark 30 years of  fruitful  collaboration in research and teaching, staff and student exchanges and capacity building.

Date:  7th November 2019

Time: Starting at 2:00pm

Venue:  Makerere University, Central Teaching Facility Two (CTF2) at the College of Business and Management Sciences.

The 30 year celebration will feature a high-level panel discussion on the “Role of inter-institutional partnerships in attaining education for all and National Development.”

The Makerere University-University of  Bergen Collaboration programme is an inter- institutional collaboration with focus on promoting research and teaching. This has provided a platform for cooperation on research, scientific competence building, student exchange, staff exchange an institutional building various disciplines and across several areas of university governance, human resource and library services.

Closer home, the College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS) and our predecessor, Faculty of Science have greatly benefited from the collaboration over the years starting with NUFU where many staff where trained, research conducted and staff exchanges took place. Let us make time and attend the celebrations. Currently, of the 157 academic staff of CoNAS 106 have PhDs; the collaboration gave the college a push towards this achievement. Let us join the celebrations! In addition, Prof. J.Y.T. Mugisha (Principal – CoNAS) is the Chair of the organising committee and Dr. Semyalo Ronald from ZEFS is the coordinator. ‘Tulumbe’, let’s go support the cause.
