The Joint Undertaking for an African Materials Institute (JUAMI), is a virtual institute that offers intensive, two-weeklong live-in programs designed to immerse you in a community of materials researchers from around the world tackling the most pressing technical problems of our times.
JUAMI 2018 started yestarday 10th-20th December 2018, in Kampala, Uganda, co-hosted by Makerere University, College of Natural Sciences. Building on the success of the previous JUAMI schools, the lectures of JUAMI 2018 will focus on Materials for Sustainable Energy, covering areas from perovskite solar cells to flow batteries.
As with prior JUAMI schools, JUAMI fellowships will fully fund US and African students to attend and participate in the entire two week program. Instruction will be provided to approximately 65 graduate students: 40-45 from Africa, 20-25 from the US, and several others from elsewhere depending on financial resources.
