Godfrey Kawooya Kubiriza, a staff at the College of Natural Sciences, Makerere University and UNU-FTP fellow will defend his PhD thesis entitled
“The effects of dietary lipid oxidation on farmed fish” on June 15, 2017 at the University of Iceland Main Building at 13:00hrs.
Godfrey was a fellow of the United Nations University Fisheries Training Programme in 2009/10 studying Sustainable aquaculture management at Holar University College. His supervisors at Holar were Helgi Thorarensen, Ólafur Sigurgeirsson and Albert K. Imsland. The final project, which was on experimental design in aquaculture growth studies, was included as a part of his PhD project to which he was admitted in 2011. Professor Helgi Thorarensen was the lead advisor for his PhD training. The doctoral committee constituted Professor Sigurður Snorrason, Assoc. prof. Ólafur Sigurgeirsson, Assoc. Prof. Anne M. Akol, Dr. Jón Árnason and Dr. Tumi Tómasson. His PhD thesis centers on effective experimental design and statistical analyses of aquaculture growth studies and on the development and preservation of aquafeeds in Africa and elsewhere.
